MASATO OUCHIDA (he/him)

Masato, an IT professional gone rogue. Starting in the tech industry, he helped people who’d never touched a computer use Linux. Nowadays he spends most of his time playing Saxophone, working with those in recovery, yaking on the ham radio, or playing Dungeons and Dragons. Also PC gaming. After Covid hit he began the yoga journey assisted with ayahuasca, by reading Breath by James Nestor, The Body Keeps the Score, Bessel Van Der Kolk and The Heart of Yoga by D. K. B. Desikachar, and two versions of the Bhagavad Gita.

These books started the journey into yoga but by no means were the last. He’d done yoga on an off, but after Covid “was over” he fully committed to Sarasvati’s Yin and Lori’s Power vinyasa at Seeking Space. Much to his company’s dismay he was recommended to take a 100hr Yin YTT certificate from Sarasvati herself. After that he went back for more. A 200hr YTT with Annie Rosen and Anika De Vore. Soon after he began teaching at NARA NW outpatient recovery and continues online Chair and Yin zoom classes for elderly populations.

TLDR: He started with books and plant medicine, teaches Yin, Hatha, gentle vinyasa and meditations. In class he brings video game music, (The Last of Us, Dwarf Fortress, Disco Elysium), Hip Hop, lo-fi, and Jazz. He doesn’t talk constantly the whole class, ends with a passage from a relevant book and a long juicy Shavasana. Some woo woo, masks, BIPOC, queer, accessible.
